Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps people who have motor or sensory difficulties
address their problems and reach their potential.
Therapy also helps people regain motor abilities following an illness
or injury. With most problems in life, the sooner they are detected
and addressed, the higher the success rate. This is especially true
for children with special needs.
The right therapist can help correct a problem before it causes low
self-esteem, poor school performance, or strained peer and family
relationships. For some children, the need for therapy is more obvious.
Occupational therapy can help children with birth defects, such as
spina bifida and cerebral palsy, or learning disabilities and developmental
delays. Therapy also helps people with multiple handicaps, mental
retardation, autism, or traumatic brain injuries.
Whether your child's problem is subtle or obvious, occupational therapy
can help your child lead a happier life.
